I've had some awful drivers in the past that tanked performance terribly. Sometimes the newest drivers are not the best. The latest beta nvidia drivers have actually caused my machine to hard-lock doing simple things like browsing forums. I've switched back to 285.62 and hopefully that helps me. You might try rolling back to the last stable set before the newest one for your card and see if that helps.

I'm not loyal to either brand, I just generally pick what is best at my desired price point at the time of purchase.
I hear ya. I have a Radeon hd6970 and it's a great card. I overclocked it and usually get between 60-90 fps on ultra setting in BF3. I switched because ive done a lot of research on this card compared to the Nvidia GTX 560 Ti and found this one was slightly better.
