I've recently had a problem in which fraps would drop my FPS to the point where it's unplayable. I can be playing Dead Rising 2 at 120 fps, and as soon as I start recording my fps goes down to 15-17. I can understand losing 20-30 fps, but this is ridiculous. It never did this until recently either. I can't think of anything I did, it just randomly started happening on all of my games when I attempt to record. I have an AMD Phenom Quad Core 3.6 GHZ, 4GB DDR3 RAM, and a Geforce 560 ti. Any help would be appreciated.
I may have found the problem, which brings up another question. I normally have fraps record all of my videos to my external, so I changed to record to my internal. There were no more fps problems. However, recording to my external used to work just fine. Any ideas on why this might be?
Recording to an external USB drive is a very bad idea. Always record to an internal drive because it will be more optimised to write large amounts of data.
Yeah, but the problem is that it used to work just fine though. If all else fails, I'll just record to my internal, and move the files to my external. Thanks for taking the time to give me that information though.
