hi guys,
Recently I downloaded Fraps because I need to record a few video footages from several games, I have Fraps 2.9.8.7778 running on Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 but everytime I launch it, only message "Fraps has stopped responding." appears and then it shuts down.
I have no idea why and I'm kinda getting desperate :-)

could you help me ?

do you have fraps set to run as an administrator when launching it?

Also, the latest installer from the fraps website is Version 2.9.8, build 7777, not 7778. So if you got it from elsewhere you may have got some extras the download didn't mention.

Ok here it is:
- tried to Run as Administrator
- tried several compatibile modes
- my FRAPS was downloaded directly from Fraps.com

and still wont run properly

and one more thing, from time to time when it crashes it also makes few other programs crash (Google Chrome, QIP etc.)

thx for reply :-)

do any of them give a remotely useful error message when they crash? You can open the start menu and type Performance and Reliability Monitor (shows up probably after "perf") and examine the application crashes your computer has gone through for more detailed info.

it sais something like: The program was shut down due DEP (Data Execution Prevention)

While ago I opened Fraps it crashed again and took down my Chrome and Notepad ... (both same reason see above)

I need to go to bed its 4 AM here so I gonna respond ASAP

peace :-)

You might want to try going into the DEP settings and adding the fraps executable to the exclude list, other than that I'm at a loss. :/

i did but that didn't work either, instead few other programs didn't work so I switched DEP settings to cover only system processes... :-(

I have the same problem. Get the message and other programs crashing at the same time. Worked before the summer and can't think of any changes i've made to the computer or otherwise since i've last used it. Makes me sad.

are either of you running the BitDefender AntiPhishing Toolbar?
