The game I'm trying to record is WarCraft III TFT
I'm trying to record at really high settings/fps/etc.
1680x1050 or 1600x1200 res (full size)
60fps
Sound

The problem is that the fps can't hit 60. Instead it jumps around from ~35-45. There has to be some sort of bottleneck. I'm willing to buy some new hardware if I can find it. Any ideas?

E6400 oc 3.2ghz
4x2gb DDR2-800 5-5-5-12 RAM
6 hard drives, 4.5TB space
8800GT

Notes:
1. Yes I know my settings are high, but I want to play and record in realtime @ 60fps so I can play my best.
2. Yes I know the res is quite high, but I also want to record high res videos (I'm gona be getting a true 1080p or 1920x1200 monitor soon, for real HD).
3. The videos are saved to my D drive, game+os installed on C drive.

You could try putting 2+ of your drives into a dedicated-for-fraps raid 0 setup for better write performance.

Another thing you should consider is playing your games without frapsing, then recording the replay later when you're not caring about any slowdowns fraps may cause.

I can't try a raid 0 setup atm (no spare empty hdd's).

I don't want to fraps replays. I want to fraps myself playing in realtime.
