how can i record my games in perfect 1280x720 resolution for youtube HD
and still play my games at 1280x1024 res. i guess the captured gameplay would be most preferabley in the centre.
If it isnt possible then i suggest to fraps that giving some options like "record in youtube SD" and "in youtube HD" would make fraps a hot seller amongs we gamers who want everyone to see how awesome we are.

So you are trying to not have to shrink your footage down when you convert it to the youtube format?

Honestly the best way I can think of is to just have some crop boundaries set when you encode the video. You're already playing at a resolution close to what you want to publish the video at, so you would lose 152 pixels from the top and bottom of the movie. Here is a picture showing the areas you would lose:

I just did a short clip of a game running at 1024x1280, and then the same clip with the cropping adding in. You can kind of judge based on that what you would be missing. Here are the videos:
