I've had problems with Fraps recording videos in an IE browser window. Firefox seems to work.
Trying to record Quakelive (browser based FPS game) in-game. Just as a test.
Anyone know how to get IE to let FRAPS record it?
I've also had problems with Youtube although I seem to remember Google Videos worked ok (maybe that was a non-browser app.)

Fraps can only grab direct3d/openGL footage (I think), so flash would be excluded from that. I think that is what Quakelive is based on?

Thanks for that. But I am able to record Quake Live directly with FRAPS while in-game using FireFox. I don't know why IE doesn't allow it (or FRAPS doesn't allow it with IE). I can do what I want but I'd perfer to use IE.

I wasn't able to get quakelive to run in IE, the mouse would never work when the game loaded so I couldn't click on anything. A couple of other people I know also had some issues with Internet Explorer but it didn't deal with recording video. Firefox on the other hand seems to work fine.
I had never tried it before, but you can record demo files by opening the console in game.
ctrl + alt + ~
record titleofrecording
when you want to stop, type stoprecord
Then when you go into an empty game type
demo demoname
At that point you can fraps your footage of the demo. You might be able to play your matches easier too, as the filesize of the demo file is pretty small and there isn't the overhead of fraps recording massive amounts of data to your harddrive. So if for some reason you like playing your games in IE, you can but then just load up firefox to record the footage after the match.
On vista my recordings were saved to:
C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\LocalLow\id Software\quakelive\home\baseq3\demos
if you ever wanted to back them up or clean out the folder.

Thanks. I've done that. Tried to keep the details to a minimum. I would play a match with Fraps running for obvious reasons.
Just curious why IE and Fraps don't mix. I'll try Youtube or other sites and test to see if IE also nixes that.

From Quake Live forums - fix for mouse issue. FYI
I have heard many of you are having a problem with the mouse not being active ingame. This is how to fix it.
bring up your console Ctrl + Alt + ~ ( "~" is underneath Escape )
Type in the lines without (") and press Enter after each line.
"in_mouse -1"
"in_restart"
"in_mouse 1"
Close the console "~" or "Esc" and now the mouse should work again
If you have the same problem next time you start up the game, then create an autoexec.cfg in the folders below, and type in the commands. First time you boot up the game, pull down the console and type "exec autoexec.cfg" This file will autoexecute every time you start up the game.
windows XP:
%appdata%\id Software\quakelive\home\baseq3
windows Vista:
%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\id Software\quakelive\home\baseq3\
EDIT: the autoexec will only work for some, since the mouse jumps before the exec, but this way, you dont have to type in all the commands, just the "exec autoecex.cfg"
